Following two years of training, meetings, and most importantly praying, the Pastoral Plan Writing Committee that was established in the summer of 2014 when our Saugus Catholics Collaborative was formed has completed our Pastoral Plan which has been approved by Cardinal Seán O’Malley. The Pastoral Plan groups the 288 parishes of the Archdiocese of Boston into approximately 135 collaboratives. Our Saugus Catholics Collaborative is made up of Blessed Sacrament and Saint Margaret Parishes. Each parish maintains its own identity in the collaboratives. Each parish retains its buildings, its canonical rights, its financial assets, and obligations. The collaboratives have one Pastor who will work with one Pastoral Team and one Collaborative Pastoral Council, although since each Parish maintains its financial independence, each Parish will have its own Parish Finance Council. Together they will develop a pastoral plan for their local collaborative, focused on serving the needs of the parishes in their local collaborative and advancing the mission of the New Evangelization.
