Bags of Love

Human trafficking also known as “human slavery” is the illegal trade in human beings through recruitment or abduction by means of force, fraud, or coercion for the purposes of forced labor, debt bondage, or sexual exploitation. It is estimated there are 4.9 million victims worldwide at any given time. This past May, two Religious Sisters spoke to our Collaborative about their endeavors to assist these victims by filling “Bags of Love” prepared for a woman/girl when she is rescued and transitioning from victim to survivor. These items are meant to help her retain her dignity, show that someone cares, and encourage her in the process. The following is a list of these needs for the “Bags of Love.”
We will be collecting donations of these items at both Parishes during November until November 20.
All of the following donated items should be new.

• TOILETRIES (Each of these items should be small)
• CLOTHING (All in Medium/Large Sizes
• Shampoo/conditioner Sweatpants
• Deodorant Tee Shirts
• Band aids Socks (for sneakers)
• Small packages of Kleenex Socks: Crew
• Hand Sanitizer Underwear
• Hairbrush/comb Pajamas or Pajama bottoms
• Toothpaste and Toothbrush Long Sleeve Tee Shirt
• Soap: Small bars/gel Shirts/Mittens
• Wipes Scarf
• Flip Flops Sweater Fleece
• Other items that might be usable

MISCELLANEOUS

• Small packages of snacks: Pretzels, Peanut Butter Crackers, Trail Mix, etc.
• Small pad for writing including a pen or pencil
• Gift Card for any amount to CVS, Walgreens, Target, Dunkin Donuts, etc.
• Towel Set
• Note of encouragement

If someone or a family would like to fill a “Bag of Love” themselves, empty bags will be provided. The items listed above are suggestions only and not everything has to be in one bag. Think of the woman/girl as
needing them for a couple of days and decide what would be best in the bag.
